Who is this guy we call the Pastor?

Pastor Michael and Mary Ulffers have lived in Stromsburg, NE for 26 years.  They have 4 grown children: Hannah and her husband Jeff have three children; Jacob and his wife Kassia have two children; Lydia and her husband Chris; and Caleb is getting married to Jenna in May, 2011.  All of them are radically following Jesus.

God reached down and changed the hearts of both Mike and Mary in the summer of 1976 before they were married.  Each one had a radical encounter with Jesus Christ and have never been the same since.  They both run with a fresh fire and passion for God and His Kingdom.  God has given them a heart that will not settle for anything less than being changed in His presence continually, to bring glory to His Name in all they do.

Pastor Mike and Mary consider it a great privilege of being pastor to an amazing body of believers that have a passion for the things of the Kingdom of God.  They desire to reach out and be a part of how God wants to rescue this generation and let them know that they are valuable and precious in the Kingdom of God.  Not only for this generation, but for each one of us, that we would reach toward the high call of God in our own lives.

God has a plan, a purpose, a hope and a future for each one of us.  And together, as a community of believers,  we can encourage each other and help each other to grow strong in our own lives and in the lives of our families. 

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you,
will continue his work until it is finally finished
on the day when Christ Jesus returns.  Philippians 1:6 

Pastor Larry and Karen Spencer - Associate Pastor

God became part of Larry’s life at an early age, even to the point that as a small child he thought that he wanted to become a minister.  God kept his hand on Larry’s growing up years and protected him from following after the things of the world.  Larry has been involved in many different churches, often in leadership positions such as Sunday School teacher, a board member and an Awana Commander.

It wasn’t until he met Karen and started attending LWCI, that he found a church that believed in the entire Bible, and that it applies to today’s world as much as when it was written.

Being part of LWCI has enlarged Larry to the point that when Pastor Mike started teaching School of Pastors, he jumped at the opportunity to be part, culminating by being ordained as a Pastor, fulfilling a childhood dream.

He enjoys being a part of a church that cares for everyone and desires to see that all come to the saving knowledge of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.  And that Jesus changes lives. 

Jesus has been part of Karen’s life since her Grandmother led her to Jesus as a young adult.  Being a part of LWCI has provided a space to grow in her walk with Him. Our church knows that Jesus is real and that He loves us and desires for us to grow and share Him with others in as real a way.

Karen and Larry have three grown daughters, of which two are married.  They have been blessed with six grandchildren.  God has been very real to us and has taken us through the many of struggles of being part of blended families and through the loss of a grandchild.
